High above
mountaineering & rock climbing

You are right in front of the hotel Lampenhäusl and absorb the power of the surrounding region. You have been looking forward to this moment for quite some time - finally on vacation and the fresh air of the mountains.

You look around in Fusch and become aware of the huge variety of options that the "Hohe Tauern" national park has to offer - so let's get started.

The village of Fusch is located right next to the world famous Grossglockner Hochalpenstraße. This winding road brings you up to high elevations within minutes. The "Fuscher Törl" or the "Franz-Josef-Höhe" are great starting points for the highest mountain tours of the country. Have you ever dreamed of climbing the Großglockner? So, visit Fusch, relax for a couple of days in the hotel Lampenhäusl and then try to approach the highest peak of Austria.

It doesn't have to be highest peak? So have a look at the "Imbachhorn", the "Schwarzkopf", the big "Wiesbachhorn", the "Hohe Dock" or the legendary "Glocknerrunde".  All of these tours are really close by and the starting points are easily reachable from Fusch.  We have a lot of advise for you and we know experienced local mountain guides, who we can establish contact with for you.

For those of you, who prefer the “vertical” world, we also have really great climbing-spots. For real quick boulder-sessions we recommend the area around Ferleiten. There you can find huge boulders and rocks, that are famous in the wohle country.

Fans of rock climbing should check out the "Klettergarten Bruck". It's a huge wall in the forest, which offers various difficulty levels and is just a short car ride away from Fusch. If the weather isn't as good and the rocks are too wet and cold, there is one of the most modern climbing halls in the Salzburg Land in Saalfelden. The climbing hall "felsenfest" is not far away and invites you to vertical indoor sessions.

Whether you prefer, high goals with crampons and and ice picks, or sport-climbing with chalk bag and climbing shoes - our region would not be called “Hohe Tauern”, if anything was impossible. The hotel Lampenhäusl is a great base-camp for all kinds of outdoor adventures and trips to the mountains.

Not only high alpine
Hiking, walking and running

The alarm goes off way to early on an vacation day - it is still pretty dark outside. You look outside the winddow and watch as the day slowly awakens. It's still chilly outside - there is some fog in the valley, however, the mountain peaks around Fusch are already illuminated red-orange. It will be a wonderful day for a hike in our region. Together with some other guests you set out - the atmosphere is great, that's how a hiking vacation should be.

We know, the word “Hohe Tauern” sounds pretty high and extreme and some of the mountains and routes truly are. Many might think: "There's nothing to do but climb mountains, it's steep everywhere." You don't have to be a mountaineer to get your money's worth here. The area around Fusch offers a lot of paths, and trails that are perfect for hiking, walking, jogging and mountain running. With walking poles, hiking boots or trail running shoes you are well on your way on the trails around Fusch and in the "Hohe Tauern" national park.

Enjoy your freedom
Mountain bike & racing bike

Turn after turn, the Großglockner High Alpine Road winds its way up, relentlessly putting itself in the cyclist's path. The cold morning air of the Hohe Tauern refreshes the lungs. With the gear ratio and steepness, you get quite out of breath. Another 200 meters of altitude. The effort is not the only thing that is breathtaking here - so is the panorama of the Hohe Tauern. Soon we have made it and the goal at the Fuscher Törl is reached. Now one more photo with the bikes and we will get ready for the descent.

On tour with the road bike

This is a small excerpt from the life of a racing cyclist who has just been crowned "Glocknerkönig". Every year, thousands of racing bike fans from all over the world come to Fusch to take on the legendary Glockner. Racing enthusiasts do so at the official "Glocknerkönig" event, while others do it on their own. No matter how you plan it, riding your bike up the Glockner is legendary and should be done by every cyclist once in a lifetime. But it doesn't always have to be all the way to the top. Our region has many great road bike tours up its sleeve that don't take you straight to the high mountains. Try the Loferrunde or the tour to Kitzbühel. Everyone who likes great mountain panoramas and sporty mountain roads will go into raptures, on the tour to Dienten and the Hochkönig.

Road bike or mountain bike - it doesn't matter

By the way, it doesn't matter with which sports equipment you plan to do this - the performance is and remains considerable. If you are on the road with a mountain bike, you will find a number of other great possibilities. For example, if you want to "bike" on the Buckerberg, you will not only enjoy a great route, you will also experience a magnificent panorama of the Fusch Valley. It's the same on the tour to the Sulzbachtal, to the Trauneralm, to Bad Fusch or to the Ponyhofalm. Almost as legendary as riding a racing bike up the Glockner, is the mountain bike tour up the Hundstein high above Lake Zell. Starting from Bruck, the tour climbs hard and demands a lot from even experienced mountain bikers - but the panorama over the mountains and lake is fantastic.

Not only top sports

If you think that only super athletes get their money's worth here, you are very much mistaken. On the Tauern Cycle Path, pleasure and touring cyclists can also enjoy great panoramas and magnificent views. If you are a pleasure biker, but still want to cycle up the Großglockner, you can simply rent an e-bike. If you get stuck on a tour - no problem, a call is all it takes for a return or breakdown service.

Whether sporty - performance-oriented or comfortable - leisurely - the cycling region around the vacation region "Bruck Fusch Grossglockner" is a destination for a great cycling vacation. The hotel Lampenhäusl is strategically located and has adapted well to cyclists over time - but just convince yourself.

We are looking forward to meeting you in person at the Lampenhäusl soon.

At the Glocknerstraße
Motorcycle-Paradise-Großglockner

The hotel Lampenhäusl is located in Fusch in the region "Bruck Fusch Grossglockner". The village has the addition "an der Großglocknerstraße" to its name and is located at the beginning of the world-famous high alpine road. Fusch is the last village in the Salzburg region before crossing the border to Carinthia at the Hochtor. The Hotel Lampenhäusl has always been the ideal starting point for tours around the Hohe Tauern.

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is not only world famous and was a milestone of technical road construction at the time of its construction, in motorcycle circles it is considered one of the most beautiful pass roads in the Eastern Alps. Just after the village of Fusch, the road climbs slightly and the fun can begin. Once, however, you are still slowed down - in Ferleiten - at the toll station you have to buy a toll ticket.

After that, however, you're off and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road delivers what it promises. Granite stones on the side of the road mark the waypoints and the total of 36 hairpin bends are marked with signs so that you always know where you are. Speaking of hairpin bends - these are the best part of the road and bring enthusiasm to the face of every motorcycle fan. Throttle off, brake on, put into the bend and accelerate out again - that's exactly how motorcycling must feel.

At the Fuscher Törl, the ride is over for the time being. You should also take a break and soak up the panorama. Up here, the high mountains are lined up next to each other: Großglockner, Johannisberg, Hohe Dock, Großes Wiesbachhorn, etc. - all the big names in a row. If you want to see her majesty, the Grossglockner, up close, you can continue your journey to the Franz-Josef-Höhe or you can leave on the Carinthian side in the direction of Heiligenblut.

Real fine people don't return to the hotel Lampenhäusl so quickly. Continue south in the direction of Carinthia and take the Nockalm Road under your tires as a bonus. A really great tour through breathtaking natural landscapes. Fancy a fantastic tour through two countries? Then set off from Salzburg to South Tyrol and return to Fusch via the Brenner Pass and Gerlos Pass. A really beautiful motorcycle tour.

Nature & Peace
fly fishing & fishing water

It is early in the morning. The sun is still low and conjures long shadows over the fly fishing water Fuscher Ache. The water is calm and clear - just the right time for fly fishing. A dry fly skillfully placed on the water to let it drift. A trout will most definitely take an interest in it soon. Your fishing success will now be decided by skill and experience.

This is exactly how a beautiful fly fishing day can begin at the Fuscher Ache.
This wonderful fishing water is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park at the foot of the Großglockner massif. The Fuscher Ache is a 28 km long mountain stream that rises in the Käfertal. The Ache has the highest water quality and is not called the "Pearl of the Hohe Tauern" for nothing.

The Hotel Lampenhäusl, located directly on the Fuscher Ache, is the ideal starting point for your fishing vacation. In the morning a short look out of the window is enough to convince yourself of the water quality. Especially for our fishermen we offer a drying room for the equipment, cooling and freezing facilities for the catch and the possibility to have the self-caught fish prepared by our kitchen team according to your wishes. Afterwards you can let the eventful day come to an end in our guest garden surrounded by trees.

The source of the Fuscher Ache lies in the Käfertal, a breathtakingly beautiful high valley surrounded by several 3,000-meter peaks of the Hohe Tauern. Anyone who stands in the Käfertal and fishes in the face of the Hohe Tauern knows what quality of life means. Very special in this first section of our water is also a stock of the Danubian primeval trout, which has persisted in the Käfertal over the decades despite, or perhaps even because of, the long winter season and therefore low food supply. Up to the confluence of the Fuscher Ache with the Salzach, the water seeks its way over gravel banks, through pools, over large stones, through reservoirs, past shady trees and confluences of smaller side streams, all the way to the foothills of the Fuscher Ache.

"Petri Heil" and see you soon at the Hotel Lampenhäusl!
