Hiking tour to the Walcher Hochalm

Great round trip to the Walcher Hochalm with a highlight along the way

The hike to the Walcher Hochalm is a real highlight in Fusch. Not just because of the Alm and the views, just because of the path to the Alm. The motto is, "the way is the goad". The hike takes you behind a waterfall. Behind that waterfall you will find a great spot to stop and take a rest. Fotospot guaranteed.

The way to the Walcher Alm

The way to the Walcher Alm starts right at the toll station in Ferleiten. Next to the Tauerngasthof you can find the path towards the Walcher Grundalm. From there we follow the path on the left side of the creed, until we will reach an intersection. Take the right way towards the Walcher Hochalm and cross the Walcher creek via the wood-bridge. Almost made it - and the Walcher Grundalm can be reached on 1.580 meters elevation.

After a break, there is a path behind the hut waiting for us and takes us to the Walcher Hochalm on 1.852 meters. After the Hochalm we will reach the highlight of this trip - the path takes us behind the waterfall of the Walcher creek. After this great foto-spot the path takes us back to the valley again in a couple of narrow turns.

The Hochalm is at the base of a plateau, which can take you towards the Hohen Tenn or to the base of the Wiesbachhorn. There is also a path to the Walcherhörndl. Just follow the marked paths and find your way in the great landscape.

At the downhill you can take the marked path on the south-east of the plateau and follow the path towards the Schleierwaterfall. From there you follow the marked path toward the valley. There you will find a great place for refreshments in the Tauerngasthof. Are you interested in this trip? Come and ask Sepp and Isabella in the Hotel Lampenhäusl.
