Ski tour to the Schwarzkopf

Seep ascents, really alpine landscape and amazing snow conditions - welcome to the Schwarzkopf

The Schwarzkopf is a real alpine-tour. You will not find any easy hills, where ski tour beginners become lucky. The tour to the Schwarzkopf is steep and long, but alpinists will gain the best views to the Hohe Tauern national park and will find the best snow conditions of the entire region. All winter long - stable and save conditions are required.

The way to the Schwarzkopf

Just like some other tours, we start our tour in the area of Bad Fusch. If you stand at the north shore of the lake Zell and you look to the South, you can see it from far. When you drive on the road to Fusch, you can see the steep hills and tough ridges, which wait for you on your way up to the summit of the Schwarzkopf.

It is not as bad, as it seems - the tour starts at the parking spots in Bad Fusch and starts to follow an easy narrow road. After this warm up, we leave the road and follow the summer-hiking-path towards the Rieger Alm. The track is steep ans we quickly gain altitude. At the Rieger Alm we follow the steep hill and the views become more amazing. On top of the Rieger-Alm-area the track follows a narrow way through the rocks and we reach the area of the Grünkar.

A few hundred meters higher there the frozen "Grün-lake" and from there we have the first glance at the Schwarzkopf summit. We will reach it to the South via futher 300 to 400 vertical meters and than we have the greatest view to the Hohen Tauern we can imagine. For the descent we follow the uphill-track - the area is huge enough so everybody will find enough space. The hills are steep and the ski tour to the Schwarzkopf needs stable and save snow conditons. Check the avalange report.
