Ski tour to the Imbachhorn
Beautiful ascents, nice hills, the "anticipation" of the huge peaks in the Hohe Tauern.
If you drive on the road from Saalfelden towards Zell am See, you cannot always tell, where the Imbachhorn is. The Imbachhorn lies directly in front of the massive north-wall of the Hoher Tenn and the famous Tenn-ridge. Although it seems to be "tiny" in contrast to the Hoher Tenn, the Imbachhorn is one of the greatest ski tours from Fusch a.d. Glocknerstraße and is always worth to be climbed.
The way to the Imbachhorn
The way up to the Imbachhorn starts in the area of Judendorf, just two kilometers noth of Fusch. the ascent start right next to the parking area near the main road. We follow the cable-car-route towards the Hinterjudendorfer Alm. From the Alm we follow the way to the West towards the Wachtbergalm. Now you can see the Roßkopf and the beautiful skiing hills.
The Roßkopf will be left behind and we come to a steep hill, we have to cross - this is only save at stable conditions, which have to be evaluated on-site. After the crossing we will reach the massive Hirzbachkar and follow it uphill, until we can see the peak of the Imbachhorn right before us. On top of the Hirzbachkar, there is a ridge between the Falkenbachkarkopf and the Imbachhorn. The South-ridge bringts us to one of the most beautiful summits of the region.
For the descent we follow the uphill-tracks. As an alternative we can climb about 100 meters from the Hirzbachkar and reach a ridge between the Rockkopf and the Brennstein. From there we will find an amazing hill down to the Wachtbergalm and furthermore downhill to the Hinterjudendorfer Alm. From there we take the road to the valley or we follow the uphill-track.
