Hiking tour to the Gleiwitzerhütte
The Gleiwitzerhütte -rising high - right above the village of Fusch.
The hike to the Gleiwitzerhütte is a classic hike in Fusch. The way takes hikers into a stunning valley high above the village - you can get a great alpine feeling without going on a super hard hike and the way is not as steep as you may think. You will get quite close to the high mountains of the Hohe Tauern.
The way to the Gleiwitzerhütte
The uphill starts directly on the opposite side of the road from the Hotel Lampenhäusl and takes you in moderate up-hill in a beautiful valley along the Hirzbach-creek. The path No. F25 goes on the left side of the creek and starts with a few meters of elevation in easy turns.
Right in front of the Hirzbachalm the path crosses the creek. On the right hand side of the creek the valley turns slowly in southern direction and we start seeing the Gleiwitzerhütte from here. At the elevation of about 1.715 meters the path leaves the valley and takes us in steep turns to the Gleiwitzerhütte - here we have to hike another 400 vertical meters, until we reach our goal on 2.174 meters.
