The castle Kaprun run is the biggest ruins of the meadow Pinzgau and has the type of a height castle. Now since the 12-th century a site of historical, artistic and cultural meaning, it is supplied again by the castle association Kaprun and the cultural association Kaprun of the cultural regulation being entitled to her. All year round the castle Karpun is used as a scene for numerous arrangements (weddings, concerts, theatres, castle parties ...).

It was built around 1077 for the purpose of safeguarding the city militarily during the time of archbishop Gebhard of Salzburg.
